Introduction

ESA Academy’s Rocketry Training Programme offers 1st and 2nd year bachelor-level students a chance to learn about rocketry, covering its history, physics principles, engineering processes, regulations, laws, and commercial aspects. Participants will develop essential problem-solving and teamwork skills, while gaining insights into the interdisciplinary nature of complex problems. The programme includes over 32 hours of live and self-paced online training led by industry experts working in the space sector with specific experience in rocketry.

Following the online portion, the training will conclude with two days of practical training, where students will have the opportunity to assemble a rocket and launch it from Machrihanish Airbase in Scotland, UK

Who can apply?

To participate, students must fulfill the following criteria at the time of application and remain compliant to the criteria for the duration of the course, which will end in July 2026:

Be at least 18 years old
The participant must hold the nationality of an ESA Member State or Associate. The list of eligible states can be found here
The participant must be enrolled as Bachelor student at an academic institute providing higher education (e.g. a university) in an ESA Member State or Associate

Selected students will be required to attend all the online lectures and attend the two day in-person event held at Machrihanish Airbase (Scotland, UK).

Students will be sponsored by ESA to cover costs of accommodation, meals as well as up to 350 Euros for travel expenses.
